Iran has accused International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors of espionage, escalating tensions with the UN nuclear watchdog. A senior Iranian lawmaker claimed that inspectors smuggled surveillance microchips into nuclear facilities, hidden in their shoes, to leak sensitive data to hostile governments. This accusation follows Iran’s suspension of IAEA cooperation in July 2025, after U.S. and Israeli airstrikes targeted its nuclear sites.
